Dedicated to Dental Education for Great Buckhead Dentistry

As a dentist, I hold myself and my team to high standards in education—because you deserve our very best. My name is Dr. Peter Pate, and my practice is Dentistry in Buckhead. While we have fun and sincerely enjoy serving patients, my team and I take professional growth seriously. I regularly invest in new technology and training, as well as continuing education.

Most recently, I received the prestigious Fellowship award in the Academy of General Dentistry. This particular designation requires 500 hours of approved continuing education, three years’ membership with the AGD, a dental license in good standing for at least five years, and passing the extensive AGD Fellowship Exam. About 7% of American dentists achieve fellowship with the AGD, and I’m proud to be in this number. You deserve it! I’m also undergoing a rigorous five-year program to earn mastership status with the AGD. The Mastership Program requires 1100 hours of approved continuing education. (more…)

How to Choose Your Children’s Dentist in Buckhead & Greater Atlanta

As a parent, some of the most important decisions you make will be choosing your children’s healthcare providers. The Dentistry in Buckhead team loves kids. I’m Dr. Peter Pate, a father, husband, and family dentist. I understand the heavy responsibility of choosing the right medical team to care for your children and loved ones because I’m sitting right beside you in that boat. Of course, I want you to choose me and my team to take care of your family’s smiles, but regardless of your choice, these questions should help you make a good decision.

  • Hours: Are the dentist’s hours conducive to your child’s schedule? To your schedule?
  • Location: Is the dental practice located in a convenient area for your family?
  • Services: Does the dentist provide the services you need? Does the dentist see children? How young?
  • Kid-Friendly: Does the team like working with kids? Does the office have television and wi-fi to entertain kids?
  • Tour: Can you take a tour of the office to determine if it’s the right place for your family?
  • Team: Can you meet the team to get a feel for their personalities before scheduling your visit?
  • Payment: Does the dentist accept credit cards? Can you pay with a CareCredit loan? (more…)

Stop Snoring, Atlanta, and Get a Good Night’s Sleep!

Snoring can be a headache for the snorer and the poor snoree, the person subjected to the obnoxious nighttime noise. But there’s more to it than that. Snoring can indicate a condition called obstructive sleep apnea or OSA. If your sleeping pal tells you that you hold your breath during sleep; if you wake up suddenly, choking and gasping for air; if you’re irritable, forgetful, and tired all day long, you might have obstructive sleep apnea or another sleep disorder.

I’m Dr. Peter Pate, a Buckhead Atlanta dentist. While I can provide checkups and dental crowns with the best of ‘em, I also help people stop snoring and overcome sleep apnea. You see, in some cases, obstructive sleep apnea can be corrected with an oral appliance.

When you sleep, soft tissues in your mouth and throat can obstruct airflow. Snoring is actually the sound made when these tissues vibrate while you breathe. Sleep apnea occurs when airflow is completely obstructed for periods of 10 seconds or more, repeatedly during sleep. (more…)

Cosmetic Dentistry Quiz for an Unforgettable Smile in Buckhead Atlanta

You’ve always wanted an attractive smile. And with good reason. The Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry released a poll that tells us, people with an attractive smile are considered more friendly, successful, and intelligent. Another study, this one by Kelton Research, showed that after teeth whitening, job applicants were more likely to get hired and get paid more. When you look at it this way, cosmetic dentistry is a practical solution to enhance your image, which can improve your opportunity in social, romantic, and professional circles.

As a family and cosmetic dentist in Buckhead Atlanta, I offer many conservative esthetic treatments that can give you the smile you want…the smile that will help you achieve and exceed your life’s goals. You can visit the cosmetic dentistry page on my main website, but before your cosmetic dentistry consultation, take this short quiz to assess your smile. Your answers will help me determine the very best procedures to meet your unique needs.

First, brush and floss your teeth, remove your makeup, and get a hand mirror. Sit down in a quiet, comfortable area, and have a pen and paper handy to jot down your answers. Then look at your smile. Really look at it. (more…)
